FIRST LANDING STATE PARK

In 1607, the first permanent settlers of Virginia landed at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. They would later place a cross and christen the spot as Cape Henry in honor of Henry, Prince of Wales, elder son of King James I. Cape Henry is in First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
