About Us
The Princess Anne County Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), is a non-profit, non-political service organization for women 18 years of age and older. Dedicated to historic preservation, education, patriotism, and honoring the Patriots of the Revolutionary War, our members come from a variety of backgrounds and interests, but all share the common bond of having an ancestor who helped contribute to securing the independence of the United States of America.
WHO WE ARE
Founded in 1890, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a genealogical society with over 185,000 members in more than 3,000 chapters. Committed to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education, the NSDAR has chapters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and around the world.
The Princess Anne County Chapter, NSDAR, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, has been part of the NSDAR since 1951. On meeting dates, we gather at the Virginia Beach oceanfront for lunch and a program supporting one of the three pillars of the NSDAR.
WHAT WE DO
The Princess Anne County Chapter, NSDAR, supports a veterans’ spinal cord injury unit and the USO plus multiple historic sites in Virginia Beach and elsewhere in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Our members place wreaths and flags on veterans’ graves, assist with naturalization ceremonies, and celebrate Constitution Day by ringing bells at 4:00 p.m.
